FAQs

A collective is a group of people who come together to collaborate, share ideas, and make something bigger than what we could do alone. At mirrorball, our team of skilled consultants and freelancers work together without the rigid structure you’d find at an agency.
This approach ensures we remain flexible and fluid, and it helps us cut the steep overhead that often drives big agency budgets.
-
A collective is ideal when an agency feels like overkill, but you still need a diverse set of skills. If you’re unsure whether you need an individual or a full team, a collective can provide a balanced solution with integrated services like creative, content, and communications.
Plus, with significantly lower overhead, a collective can offer better project pricing—perfect for clients with tighter budgets who still want high-quality work.
-
From design to content and comms, our collective experience spans work with top companies, beloved brands, and small businesses.
We’ve been part of in-house teams at JustAnswer, Tilt (acquired by Airbnb), Uber, and Visa, and have worked in agency roles on projects for Google, Opendoor, Meta, and Pinterest, among others. We’ve also built personal brands and worked with spokespeople to craft authentic individual stories.
Additionally, we have extensive experience writing for and placing stories in top-tier publications like Business Insider, Fast Company, Real Simple, and others—helping our clients reach wider audiences and generate meaningful press coverage.
-
Check, check, and check!
We have experience working with all kinds of businesses—including emerging startups, established small businesses, and global companies.
No matter the size of the business, we bring the same level of dedication and expertise to each project, tailoring our approach to fit the unique needs of each client.
-
Yes, we do! We’ve helped individuals build personal brands that authentically represent who they are and what they do. One of our favorite personal projects was with Boston-based restauranteur Chris Coombs. We built his personal site to complement his restaurant group's web properties, and used it to help open up new revenue streams—including speaking and media engagements, commercial cooking opportunities, and more.
Whether for entrepreneurs, executives, or creatives, we know how to craft a personal brand that resonates with the right audience and creates lasting impact.

Yes, we do! We can help you get more mileage out of your existing content by repurposing it in different formats to reach new audiences.

Absolutely! We’ll conduct local research, develop media lists, identify media opportunities, and manage media buys—from broadcast segments to social/influencer partnerships and advertorials.
Our collective team can also help media train local spokespeople, ensuring they’re prepared to engage with media confidently and effectively.

We like to keep things simple and transparent when we collaborate. We use Google Drive to organize client folders and documents, so everything’s easy to access. Depending on the project, we also use tools like Monday, Asana, Trello, and Pinterest to help keep track of tasks and milestones.
We keep project trackers updated in real-time, so you can check in and see how things are progressing whenever you want!
-
It depends on the details!
We’ll collaborate with you to pinpoint your goals, what your project needs, and the deliverables you’re looking for. Once we’re aligned on the scope, we’ll give you a straightforward flat fee for the whole project. We have a rate card for common deliverables, and we’re happy to price out custom work if your project calls for something more tailored.
This approach works great for one-off, short-term initiatives—like a campaign messaging guide, a website refresh, a brand narrative, or a batch of launch-ready content—when you want clear results by a specific deadline.
-
While not all our clients work on a retainer, for those who do, projects typically run between $5K and $15K per month. Because building a strong foundation takes time, we ask for a minimum 3-month commitment on retainer engagements to ensure we can deliver meaningful results.
An alternative to traditional retainers, we also offer a Minimum + Activation model. This is ideal for brands that want ongoing support but aren’t sure what kinds of deliverables they’ll need and when.
With this model, we set a smaller monthly minimum (usually 5-10 hours) for strategic planning and project management. Then, you can activate projects as needed, with upfront pricing from our rate card. This helps you stay in control of your budget and adjust resources as your priorities change without having a fixed scope every month.
-
Yes!
Through our collective, you can set the rate for consultants & freelancers you hire based on your project scope, timeline, and their experience. We don’t add surprise fees or percentages on top of that rate, just a fixed admin markup to cover contracts, payments, and compliance. With this approach, you get high-quality support you can work with directly without the overhead of managing talent yourself.
Not sure where to start? We’re happy to recommend a ballpark range based on similar projects. Just let us know!
